December 29, 2009. South Kona Forest Reserve, Kukuiopae section, 4600'. The small gully where the Drosophila were collected. Other areas nearby did not have as many, though D. heteroneura was collected elsewhere, indicating it's spread throughout the forest. The entire area is heavily impacted by feral cattle.
