Habitat of Telmatogeton torrenticola, a very large endemic midge. Umauma stream. These flies live in fast-flowing streams, rarely flying and unperturbed by falling into the water. Large numbers were visible running over the rocks in mating swarms, and the larvae could also be seen crawling around feeding on algae.
