Caterpillar of Scotorythra paludicola, koa moth. Large numbers of fallen caterpillars were visible on the vegetation in this stretch of forest, and with binoculars many could be seen on the phyllodes of koa trees. Frass from the caterpillars covered the ground and leaves.
