August 8, 2010. Waianae Valley, first gulch north of Puu Kawiwi. Hyposmocoma sp., one of the semi-aquatic species. The stream appeared to be long dry, but the caterpillars were abundant, presumably still grazing on the rocks. This "burrito case" species was found higher on the rocks and in drier spots than the sympatric "cone case" species.
