August 8, 2010. Waianae Valley, first gulch north of Puu Kawiwi. Hyposmocoma sp., one of the semi-aquatic species. The stream appeared to be long dry, but the caterpillars were abundant, presumably still grazing on the rocks. This "cone case" species was found only in damp spots and was much less common than the sympatric "burrito case" species.
