North of Alahaka Bay, reintroduction of Hylaeus was attempted at Puuhonua O Honaunau NHP. However, large populations of big-headed ants (Pheidole megacephala) are present. Within seconds of bees being released, ants attacked the bees that were still unable to fly from being transported on ice.
